RebuildsMost amateur race team will be doing this themselves, with
assistance and advice from Suppliers and Services. Like
anything else, you need a plan. There might be books to help, like Carroll Smith's
"Prepare to Win".
If we were working with you on chassis and suspension
development, we would like major consideration given
to chassis stiffness and straightness. If the "platform"
flexes, then the car will not be predictable, and could unresponsive to suspension
changes. The chassis must
be stiff if is to build weight transfer progressively and in
proportion to the relative stiffness of front and rear wheel
pairs - the essence of the balance you are trying to achieve.
If there were any design changes to be made to the car, then this
would be the time to do it. I guess design changes are just tuning changes that are
more permanent -
you may not be able to change back easily if it doesn't
work.
So if you are in the process of a rebuild, or initial build for
your car, why not take advantage of our offer of free consulting on your project for one
hour of our time. This may involve e-mail correspondence or telephone conversations
with you, familiarising ourselves with the regs
for your category, if we don't already know, and any analysis
or checking we may be able to do for you in that time.
Then, if you require, we can do a complete analysis of your suspension - invaluable
knowledge for your future track testing - and /or do the final baseline set up on your
car.
